ICT Community Angels help football club
The Kingborough Tigers Football Club kicked off their 2017 season on Friday and marked the occasion by unveiling their newly refurbished canteen that they were able to give a facelift to thanks to some of our ‘Community Angels’.
Wanting to give back to the local community, our Vita peeps down in Hobart ran a campaign last year asking customers to vote for one of three local clubs to receive a clubhouse makeover from their ‘Community Angels’ team, worth $4,000.
The Kingborough Tigers Football Club were the clear winners out of the more than 300 votes collected and throughout February, the Community Angels set to work renovating the canteen, which the club’s Junior and Youth Division Coordinator, Wayne Morgan said was a long time coming.
“The Kingborough Tigers were so excited to win the Community Angels campaign and receive $4,000 to put towards the finalisation of our much-needed canteen refurbishment,” he said. “The improvement to our facilities has saved the club enormous effort from our volunteers and has allowed us to focus on getting another footy season up and running.”
“It’s been fantastic to throw our weight behind supporting the Kingborough Tigers,” said Rhani Wade, Vita Group’s Area Manager for Tasmania. “They play an important role in our community, particularly in keeping kids active and healthy.”
Having gotten to know the local football club during the canteen refurbishment, our Hobart team have now signed on as long-term supporters of the Kingborough Tigers for 2017, with a particular focus on assisting the club rollout their AFL program for girls and boys from Auskick, to under 16 youth aged football.
“The AFL program delivered by the Kingborough Tigers engages with kids, not only by playing football, but by teaching them important life skills like teamwork as well,” said Mr Wade. “Through now also supporting the club, we hope to help them continue to spread this message throughout the local communities in the club’s zone.”
“We are also looking forward to establishing an ongoing relationship with Telstra Channel Court and Cat & Fiddle stores and highly value their added support throughout the year,” added Mr Morgan.
